_Human/Environment Interaction
_Human/environment interaction is how people adapt to, depend on, and modify their environment. For example, in tropical areas people adapt to the weather by wearing shorts and t-shirts instead of winter coats, depend on the wildlife and plants for food, and modify the land to grow crops and create farmland.
In Vietnam people depend on warm, moist land for agriculture and aquaculture. They adapt to the warm environment and natural surroundings and create farms to grow crops and take care of their livestock that can be used for many purposes. People also adapt to the environment and speak Vietnamese, because it's the number one language in Vietnam. People speak other languages in Vietnam, such as French, too. Some people speak French, because Vietnam used to be governed by the French in 1887 to 1954. The people of Vietnam modify their environment by putting houses on stilts if they are in an area that floods or has typhoons.
Tying to their interactions, a cultural norm of Vietnam is farming. Agriculture and aquaculture are popular in Vietnam. Rice is a staple in Vietnam, because with their moist soil it is easy to grow and it is used for many purposes. Half of the Vietnamese workers, especially in small villages, farm and produce their most popular crop, rice, but Swai, a Vietnamese catfish is the most popular in fish farming because of its fast production. Swai are dark gray or beige fish that are found mostly in the Mekong River. Farming is the most popular job in Vietnam, not that it isn't popular in many other locations around the world. Since there is a lot of rain in Vietnam, houses on stills are not unusual either. If you have ever seen Vietnamese bamboo hats, they look like umbrellas for a reason; that reason would be that the hats help keep rain off your body and give you shade on those sunny days. Another type of clothing that the Vietnamese wear is ao dai--a silky, loose, and light traditional outfit. Ao dai is worn, because of its breathable and comfortable material. In Vietnam people use chopsticks, because about 2,500 years ago Confucius said that things that looked like weapons, such as knives, shouldn't be brought to the dinner table so he introduced chopsticks. With interactions, there are always cultural norms.
